General: |
The main airport for this part of the world receiving international flights from Europe, East Asia and Central America as well as connections across the States and Canada. |
Appearance: |
At the time of visiting parts of the airport were undergoing renovation so it was difficult to judge, but it looks like an airport that has grown organically over a number of years. From a core concourse that includes the A gates there are two side wings and two satellite terminals linked by a series of shuttle trains |
Domestic
I have not arrived on a domestic flight at this airport
International
After landing it was a short walk up the airbridge and then down an escalator into the immigration hall. From immigration its down another short escalator to baggage reclaim, customs and then if you've arrived on the A concourse exit to the city or, as in my case, to the inter terminal shuttle to take you back to the A Concourse where the exit is.
Immigration was unbelievably fast for international standards let alone the reputation that US immigration has. I was through within two minutes, and that was despite being on a fresh ESTA
Baggage reclaim is right below immigration and once again the bags were round very quickly, arriving only a minute or so after I got to the carousel.
The regular customs check of your declaration as you leave baggage reclaim, but no channels
Seattle airport is connected to the city centre by the Light Link tram that runs regularly from a stop about 5 minutes walk through the carpark from the terminal to stations in Downtown Seattle, journey time is about 30 minutes to the city centre
Domestic
I have not flown from this airport on a domestic flight

After checking in and heading through to security you are presented with an option of two different security lanes, both go through to airside and you can take either, and there are signs to show how quickly each lane is moving. As with any US airport this is the slowest part of the experience. Once through you are in the main A concourse where you can connect to other concourses via the inter terminal shuttle trains that leave from the basement
There are several café/bars airside
There are several café/bars airside
There are a reasonable number of food options once you are airside
The usual selection of duty free and premium brand shops across all the concourses
The toilets were clean and well maintained
