General:

Located around 10 miles north of the city centre, the Airport was refurbished before the 2006 Winter Olympics.

Appearance:

The modern airport buildings are light and airy with plenty of space, though some of the seating, despite only being four years old, is showing bad signs of wear

As the airport was designed to cope with the numbers for the Winter Olympics in 2006 everything has been built for much larger planes that are actually used, subsequently all the air bridges are very long and there are consequently long walks to get around the building. From the air bridge you descend a flight of steps down to the immigration desks and through into the large baggage reclaim hall. From there it's through the small customs hall and out into the arrivals hall

The immigration checks were very quick and I was through in a couple of minutes

The baggage appeared to take some considerable time to come round.

From the baggage hall there is a single channel for Green and Blue routes (nothing to declare and EU), there is a desk for anyone wanting to declare goods.

From the airport there are regular busses to the city centre, alternatively there are half hourly trains to Dora station on the outskirts of the city centre from where a bus links into the city centre.

The checkin area on the first floor is quite small for an airport of its size. From checkin it's a short walk through the security area and out into the main departures hall which runs the whole length of the airport. For international, non schengen flights a set of passport control desks down by gates 1 to 6 separate that area off from the rest of the departures lounge (and its facilities)

A couple of small cafe/bars airside and landside

A couple of small cafe/bars airside and landside

A fair sized restaurant is in the departures lounge

There are a large number of shops airside

The toilets are clean and well maintained
