After finishing work I had a pretty tight journey time to get across town to the airport, but I made it with a little bit of time to spare. I’d been a little concerned as the flight had been early departing Heathrow every night for the previous couple of weeks, but I shouldn’t have worried as tonight it decided to end it’s early streak and by the time we pushed back we were already 5 minutes late, add in de-icing and by the time we were airborne it was clear it was going to also be a late arrival.

By the time we landed and finally parked up at a gate we were 20 minutes late, only it turned out it was a bus gate which added yet more delay. Thankfully we were late enough that we were the only non-Schengen flight landing at that time so passport control was empty when our buses deposited us there, again thankfully as the immigration officers were questioning everyone about their reason for visiting.

Despite the delay I was still out of the airport a little before 11:30 which meant that the buses to my overnight hotel were still running every 10 minutes, though with a 12 minute walk to the bus stop I, of course, just missed one and had to wait for the next one.

A very quick walk from the bus stop to the hotel and a few minutes later I was in my room and heading quickly to bed.
